NICU - Day 18 (Part III)

Well, she's out of surgery. It took a little over two hours. Not the best outcome. The surgeon informed us that they found more necrotic tissue. She lost more of her small intestine and her ascending colon. Some of what is left will grow, but nothing that was completely removed can be reproduced. We are unsure of what this means for her future at this point. Her primary doctor had not eaten yet, so went to lunch. We'll have a better idea of things after we talk to him. They did not close her up, but did do the ostomy. They will need to take off the dressing and rinse her abdomen out before sewing her up. They are looking at Thursday for completing this.
