NICU - Day 52

Date: January 13th
Gestational Age: 35 weeks 4 days
Weight: 2150 grams
Length: 17 1/2 inches

Madelyn had a VERY good day today. Her feeds were raised to 2.5 mLs per hour. She is still getting continual feeds. I gave her a bath tonight and while she didn't enjoy it a whole lot, she also didn't cry. Maddie also had physical therapy this morning and did very good during that as well. The care coordinator came today and we decided on a nursing service and supply company for when Maddie goes home.

After her bath, I put this cute little puppy outfit on her. She looks super cute and even smiled for me. I think she had the cutest little face with those chubby cheeks and plump lips.

I also took a picture next to the bear that her cousins bought for her. She is longer than it now! Here is a comparison from her and the bear on December 17th.

WARNING: Do not read the next paragraph if you are currently eating or like pudding.

Maddie pooped today! Her nurse changed her this morning and there was just a little poop but when she wiped her there was a whole lot more! And it was the consistency of pudding, meaning she is absorbing some of the water from her stools. This is all very, very good news. It turns out Maddie was just waiting for her nurse Erin to return from vacation to poop. The last time she had significant stool out of her butt previously was the day that Erin took her to radiology, so it must be something about her that makes Maddie feel comfortable enough to have a bowel movement. :-) Poor, poor Erin.

  2. There is something about the recent picture with the bear that reminds me of the movie with the naughty bear in it. Can't think of the name. Hopefully this one is not teaching Maddie dirty jokes. :_) Love reading the blog and seeing the pictures - keep it up Mary. Love you all ! Aunt Pam
